Genetic Errors of Immunity

Inborn errors of immunity (IEI) are caused by damaging germline variants in single genes leading to increased susceptibility to infections, immune dysregulation, bone marrow failure, and/or malignancy. While individually rare, the aggregated number of individuals with an IEI represents a significant health burden. Not all errors of immunity (EI) are inborn, however, and some EI are due to somatic rather than germline variants. The latter have not received as much attention as the inborn errors.
