第20届体育节马上就要来了，同学们翘首以盼的国际象棋专场比赛于10月22日率先在体育馆举行！作为国际象棋特色学校，深外小多年来坚持以棋名德，以棋启智，取得了令人可喜的成效。怀揣着激动的心情，全校小棋手早早地来到赛场齐聚一堂，坐等“对战”时刻！

This year’s International Chess Competition has come to an end. The 20th SFLPS Sports Festival is just around the corner. As a school featuring professional chess training, we believe that every kid can develop his or her own intellectual, mental and social abilities while enjoying the game. The results our students have obtained are extremely impressive. Those excited little chess players have arrived at the venue well ahead of time.

比赛开始，在棋盘摆好的那一刻，小棋手们便迅速进入状态——“举棋、思考、落子”，两两斗智斗勇，精彩不断上演；在棋盘上排兵布阵时，小棋手们深思熟虑，每一步棋都是实力的较量，智慧的对决，现场气氛紧张刺激。

The competition was tense. Every player thought twice before moving a piece.

“国际象棋是智慧的体操”，对同学们来说，比赛最后比拼的不止于棋力，更是毅力、体力、心理等综合能力。作为国际象棋特色学校，每一个同学都有着属于自己的棋技故事，每一场输赢的背后，都是同学们成长道路上的一场历练。

International chess, a game long believed to boost brain power in kids, has been a compulsory part of our curriculum for years. Yet the very nature of the game not only calls for mental acuity and perceptiveness but also enhances perseverance, physical ability and mental toughness.

国际象棋比赛的顺利开展，全面点燃了校园的运动热情。亲爱的同学们，体育节的序曲已经奏响，运动的舞台已经飞旋，你们准备好了吗？

The International Chess Competition serves as a fun prelude to the long-awaited Sports Festival, which is one of the biggest events on our school calendar. Come and join us on Thursday, Nov. 7th.
